82% of the Australian business leaders may hire for permanent roles in 2022: Report

The survey was conducted between November and December 2021, that included 300 hiring managers, including 100 CFOs and 100 CIOs from companies across Australia.
A survey conducted by Robert Half International Inc. reflects that compared to the data of 2021, this year 71% of the Australian business leaders are more confident about career growth opportunities.
The study also found that about 82% of the respondents plan to hire permanent employees out of which 44% have plans to maintain a certain headcount, while 38% are aiming at expansion of the workforces.
A report carried out by Staffing Industry Analysts states that in 2022, the majority (87%) of the permanent workers are likely to be hired for the tech roles.
Commenting on the employment opportunities for the cross border employees in Australia in 2022, Nicole Gorton, Director, Robert Half said, “Even with the gradual return of international migration this year, the shortfall of skilled talent entering the market over the past two years will take at least the same amount of time to recover, if not more.”
Thus, Gorton suggested that Australian businesses gear up on talent acquisition and retention strategies. The findings show that 54% of the responding Australian business leaders are of the view that finding the right talent is going to be more challenging in 2022 than the pre-pandemic levels, while this attributes 63% to the CIOs. As the reason, about 39% of the business leaders reported failure to meet the salary expectations.
