Effective from July 15th, James Baum will assume dual roles as WTW's local head and Head of Corporate Risk and Broking (CRB) for Australia and New Zealand (ANZ).

In a strategic move aimed at bolstering its presence in the Australasian market, global brokerage firm WTW (Willis Towers Watson) appointed James Baum as its new leader for Australia and New Zealand.

The announcement, made through a media release, highlights Baum's extensive experience and leadership in the industry, marking a pivotal moment in WTW's regional strategy.

Effective from July 15th, James Baum will assume dual roles as WTW's local head and Head of Corporate Risk and Broking (CRB) for Australia and New Zealand (ANZ). Baum's transition to WTW follows an illustrious career spanning over three decades, notably as the Sydney-based CEO of Aon, another global brokerage giant, where he spent 18 years honing his expertise in managing complex business operations and driving growth strategies.

Pamela Thomson-Hall, WTW's Head of International and Risk & Broking International, praised Baum's appointment, citing his proven track record in fostering growth and his deep understanding of the Australasian market dynamics. "James is a seasoned leader with over 30 years of experience," Thomson-Hall remarked. "His leadership will build upon the strong foundations laid by Simon Weaver, propelling our growth trajectory in Australasia."

Simon Weaver, who will continue to serve as WTW's Head of Asia Pacific and CRB for the region, expressed confidence in Baum's capabilities, emphasizing the strategic importance of his appointment amidst significant growth opportunities in Australasia. "With James' deep knowledge and experience in the region," Weaver stated, "I am confident that he will supercharge our growth initiatives and strengthen our market position."

Baum himself expressed enthusiasm about his new role, underscoring his readiness to contribute to WTW's ambitious growth agenda in Australasia. "I am excited to be joining WTW at such a pivotal time of growth and opportunity in Australasia," Baum commented, highlighting his strategic vision and commitment to leveraging WTW's strengths to capitalize on emerging market trends.

The appointment of James Baum reflects WTW's strategic focus on enhancing its market leadership and expanding its service offerings across Australia and New Zealand. With a solid foundation and Baum's leadership acumen, WTW aims to navigate the complexities of the Australasian market, delivering innovative solutions and value-added services to its clients.

As WTW prepares for the next phase of growth under Baum's leadership, industry analysts anticipate heightened competition and strategic advancements in the brokerage sector, driven by Baum's extensive experience and WTW's robust global network. The firm remains poised to capitalize on evolving market opportunities and reinforce its commitment to delivering exceptional client outcomes in the region.
