Before his appointment at Lloyd’s, he served as the Chief People Officer at Aviva Investors, where he led the HR strategy for the investment management division of Aviva.

Lloyd’s, the world’s leading insurance marketplace, has announced the appointment of Nathan Adams as its new Chief People Officer (CPO), effective in early 2024. Adams, who will join the company’s Executive Committee and report directly to CEO John Neal, brings over two decades of experience in human resources and organizational transformation to the role.

Adams steps into the CPO position at a pivotal time for Lloyd’s, succeeding Sara Gomez, who is set to retire at the end of this year. Gomez, who joined Lloyd’s in 2021 as interim Chief HR Officer before being confirmed in the permanent CPO role in 2022, has played a significant role in shaping the company’s culture and people strategy during her tenure.

Adams’ career spans over 20 years, with notable experience in senior HR roles across major corporations. Before his appointment at Lloyd’s, he served as the Chief People Officer at Aviva Investors, where he led the HR strategy for the investment management division of Aviva. His tenure at Aviva dates back to 2014, during which he held several senior positions, including overseeing the company’s global HR transformation.

His extensive background also includes leadership positions at Barclays and Arcadia Group, where he was instrumental in driving HR strategies that fostered high-performance, inclusive work cultures.

In his new role at Lloyd’s, Adams will be tasked with advancing the company’s ongoing focus on creating a more inclusive and performance-driven culture. CEO John Neal expressed confidence in Adams’ ability to lead this transformation.

“Nathan is a strong leader with outstanding experience driving the People agenda in large organizations. He will be a great addition to the team as we continue to focus on promoting an inclusive, high-performance culture across Lloyd’s,” Neal said in a statement.

Sara Gomez’s retirement marks the end of a significant chapter for Lloyd’s. Having initially stepped in as interim Chief HR Officer in mid-2021, Gomez quickly became an integral part of the leadership team, being confirmed as CPO in 2022. During her time at Lloyd’s, Gomez played a key role in shaping the company's HR strategy, guiding the organization through a period of transformation and strengthening its people culture.

John Neal took the opportunity to thank Gomez for her valuable contributions to the company, highlighting her leadership and commitment to enhancing Lloyd’s people agenda.

“I would like to thank Sara for her contribution to the Lloyd’s culture and people agenda over the past three and a half years. She has been a valued member of Lloyd’s Executive Committee and I wish her the best as she moves into a new and exciting phase of her life, which she has been planning for some time,” Neal said.
