Cotton Australia to prevent cotton workforce shortage crisis via online platform
In the bid to solve a pandemic triggered problem of the Australian cotton industry- scarcity of seasonal workers, Cotton Australia has come up with a new online service- Cotton Jobs Australia to connect seasonal workers with prospective employers.
The online service will allow employers to post job vacancies and accept applications from workers through a simple online form. This will help in removing the communication barriers between employers and workers. The Queensland government has funded this new online platform.
Hoping to get a large number of applications on its online platform, Cotton Australia has also promised to provide training resources to any paying growers who want to publish and advertise job vacancies.
Adam Kay, Cotton Australia CEO said, “We encourage our Cotton Australia levy paying growers to post their job advertisements today, and we call on job seekers to visit the website regularly to discover and apply for their next exciting career opportunity.”
Forecasting a high-quality sustainable cotton harvest in coming seasons, in excess of 4.5 million bales, Kay said, “We really look forward to growers fully utilizing this new tool and seeing a flood of job seekers applying through Cotton Jobs Australia to head out on farm and take up the exciting roles, now and into the future, in our industry.”
