Vaccinated Australians will be allowed to enter New Zealand without needing to quarantine for COVID-19 from April 12 from 11:59 pm local time.

New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern has announced that vaccinated Australians will be allowed to enter New Zealand without quarantine on April 12 2022. She also unveiled that vaccinated travellers from countries with visa waiver arrangements with New Zealand can enter without quarantine from May 1st.

The NZ Prime Minister said the reopening of New Zealand's border, which has remained shut to much of the world since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, was a sign of the country's economic recovery.

We have now received guidance that it is safe to significantly bring forward the next stage of border reopening work," she said.

"We are ready to welcome the world back."

"In particular, I look forward to welcoming back our trans-Tasman travellers, who have historically made up 40 percent of our international arrivals," Ardern said.

"They will be able to arrive in time for the Australian school holidays and provide a particular boost for our coming winter ski season."

As per the arrangement, travellers will be required to have a negative COVID-19 test before they leave, and two negative tests when they arrive and then on day six of their stay.

This announcement comes as welcome news for tourists who will be excited to join the Oceania nation after the longest while.
