Jacqui Marker, Amazon Australia’s HR Director, highlighted that "Comprehensive on-the-job training will be provided, with no prior experience or formal qualifications needed."

E-commerce giant Amazon Australia is on a hiring spree, announcing hundreds of seasonal job opportunities across the country as it prepares for the busy festive season. The company is looking to fill positions in picking, packing, and shipping customer orders, with no previous experience or qualifications necessary.

This recruitment drive is designed to support Amazon’s fulfillment and logistics centers as they brace for key shopping events such as Black Friday and the lead-up to Christmas. Openings are available in major cities including Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, Brisbane, Adelaide, Newcastle, Gold Coast, Gosford, and Geelong.

These roles offer flexibility and are targeted at a wide range of people, from students on break to retirees wanting to stay active in the workforce, as well as individuals looking to re-enter the job market.

Jacqui Marker, Amazon Australia’s HR Director, emphasised the inclusive nature of the opportunity, stating: "Comprehensive on-the-job training will be provided, and no previous experience or formal qualifications are required. These seasonal job opportunities are ideal for those seeking short-term work, such as retirees wanting to stay engaged in work, students on their study breaks, or individuals looking to re-enter the workforce and earn an extra income."

In addition to the fulfillment center roles, Amazon is also offering flexible jobs in package delivery, appealing to those looking for adaptable working conditions as the holiday shopping rush begins.

Amazon's recruitment drive comes at a time when more Australians are taking on second jobs to cope with rising cost-of-living pressures. According to new data from the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS), approximately 961,000 Australians now have more than one job—an increase of over 215,000 in the past five years.

This growing trend of Australians working multiple jobs reflects the increasing need for flexible employment options and supplementary income. Amazon's seasonal roles offer an accessible option for those looking to supplement their income in the final quarter of the year.

However, with the rise in second jobs comes an important reminder for workers: managing superannuation accounts. The ABS data also revealed that over four million Australians now hold more than one superannuation account. As individuals take on extra work, the number of super accounts can increase, potentially leading to unnecessary fees and lost retirement savings. Financial experts are encouraging workers to consolidate their superannuation to avoid these complications.

Amazon’s seasonal job offering arrives as a timely opportunity for those seeking short-term, flexible work. For many Australians grappling with rising living expenses, the positions not only provide financial relief but also offer a chance to stay connected to the workforce. With no experience required and training provided, the roles open the door for a diverse range of applicants across the country.

As the holiday season approaches, Amazon is positioning itself as a key player in providing both employment opportunities and convenient services to customers, all while gearing up for a critical sales period.
