Getmee said the capital raise reflects the company's ability to sustain its momentum of commercial success amid the ‘challenging global funding environment’ for early-stage tech startups.

Education technology startup Getmee has secured fresh capital in a recent funding round led by Access Capital Ventures (ACV). The capital injection brings the total funding-to-date for the AI coaching service to AU$2.5mn.

Getmee said the capital raise reflects the company's ability to sustain its momentum of commercial success amid the “challenging global funding environment” for early-stage tech startups. The company has seen significant commercial growth by developing a world-first AI coaching product.

While ACV led the funding round, Getmee also garnered support from long-standing customers and existing investors. The company said the funding will play a crucial role in advancing its product roadmap and building its market presence throughout 2024.

Getmee, which was established by Balendran 'Bala' Thavarajah in the mid-2020s, designed an AI-powered English language coaching solution. The service is tailored to users who want to enhance their skills and boost their employability. The solution takes inspiration from the personal experience of Thavarajah himself, who arrived in Australia without any formal training in the English language.

Getmee's AI coaching product, currently in use across 16 countries, is available through a mobile application. However, enterprise customers have the option to white-label the product to maintain brand consistency.

The startup's solutions have gained widespread acceptance from various sectors, including government immigration services agencies, employment service providers, universities, and education providers. Notable clients include AMES Australia, Deakin University, VFS Global, and ISBR Business School Bangalore, among others.

“The funding and the experience of the ACV team brings, will allow us to support our growth,” Thavarajah said. “We look forward to achieving new milestones as we continue to push the boundaries of AI technology for communication skills coaching and reshape the industry landscape.”
