It’s often said that health is wealth, and in the workplace, health is happiness as well, or so professionals tell us.
People Matters rolled out a poll to know working professionals’ take on happiness at the workplace. With a response of over 1,600 votes, the outcome was strongly in favour of the statement: ‘Happiness at the workplace is a healthy work environment.’ 43% of working professionals responded that a healthy work environment is a key to happiness. Whereas, just 5% voted for great friends at work.
We also collected some valuable insights from HR heads and senior leaders. Health to them isn’t just about physical health and safety: it’s about healthy workplace culture, about emotional safety, and even about good leadership. Common remarks included:
- Professionals said that companies must contribute to a culture where employees feel happy
- Without a good leader or mentor, a healthy work environment, great friends, and work-life balance is not possible
- Some felt that happiness means different things to different people
