BIPO, a leading payroll and HR technology platform in Asia Pacific, has announced a US$50 million investment from Apis Growth Fund III1. Apis Partners Group (UK) Limited (“Apis Partners”), a private equity firm investing in tech-enabled businesses in financial infrastructure and services, acts as the portfolio manager for Apis Growth Fund III.
This funding will expand BIPO's proprietary payroll infrastructure with a focus on key growth markets including Australia and support its plan to help multinational companies enter new markets faster, the company said in a press release. The investment marks the ninth from Apis Growth Fund III, which recently held its final close at USD 1.23 billion.

Global expansion often brings significant regulatory and payroll challenges for organisations, particularly in markets like Australia, where complex compliance rules require absolute accuracy and consistency.
Commenting on the Australian market, Michael Chen, CEO of BIPO said, "Australia has some of the most detailed payroll regulations in the region, from superannuation to the country's modern awards system. Getting this right, at scale, is essential for organisations looking to grow with confidence. Because BIPO has built its proprietary platform around those requirements, we deliver a single, unified solution across every market – whether it's an Australian business expanding into Asia or a multinational enterprise navigating global expansion.”
Chen added: “We have developed our own proprietary payroll engines across multiple countries - a structural advantage that few in the industry can match. This USD 50 million investment from Apis Partners validates our HR technology platform and strategy to simplify international expansion.”
To support its next phase of growth, the new investment will strengthen research and development at BIPO's Singapore headquarters and regional hubs while accelerating the company's AI capabilities through the integration of agentic workflows across its internal implementation and service delivery teams. These initiatives support BIPO's ambition to become Asia-Pacific's premier AI-embedded payroll and HR platform while preserving the human oversight critical to compliant payroll execution. In Australia, BIPO will expand its local teams to meet growing customer demand.
Built on BIPO’s native payroll engines, these enhancements will support more complex decision-making, improve payroll accuracy for global workforces, and further strengthen BIPO's flagship Human Resource Management System, Global Payroll Outsourcing, and Employer of Record services.
As an Asia-focused specialist with deep regional expertise and international connectivity, BIPO partners with organisations to drive operational efficiency, enabling both Asian businesses to expand globally and multinational corporations to scale seamlessly across Asia’s complex, fast-growing markets, the company said.
