Ashley Gjøvik has been put on indefinite paid administrative leave by Apple as she raised concerns about the prevalence of sexism and a hostile environment at the workplace. Apple has also launched investigations into verifying her claims.

Apple has put Ashley Gjøvik,  a senior engineering program manager of the tech firm on indefinite paid administrative leave while it investigates her claims of a truculent and sexist work environment in the company.

The investigation began after she had criticised Apple’s employee relations team investigation which allegedly concluded that there is no problem in Apple’s current work environment.

Gjøvik had been quite vocal about her experiences when she encountered sexism, a hostile work environment, sexual harassment, unsafe working conditions, and retaliation at Apple. She also said there were no boundaries and her concerns were not  addressed. She was also asked to not use Slack where she was eloquent about concerns related to some policies in the company. Apple has also asked her not to meet other female employees or talk to them about Apple’s policies.

Apple employees have become increasingly vociferous and critical about the alleged instances of sexism in the workplace. Some employees also petitioned Apple management to reassess its hiring of Antonio García Martínez, former Facebook product manager.

There was a huge backlash over his appointment as he had authored a book that expressed misogynist views. However, he no longer is an employee at Apple.
