Oracle ANZ communications head departs amid global AI-driven restructure

Aurora Sassone’s exit marks a shift in Oracle’s regional communications strategy as global restructuring reshapes roles across the organisation.
The global tech giant Oracle has now parted ways with its local communications lead, Aurora Sassone, amidst a major wave of worldwide layoffs being driven by massive investment in generative AI.
Sassone, who spent four years leading the brand's voice in Australia and New Zealand, announced her departure on LinkedIn. She noted she was "proud to have played a part in how much the Oracle brand has transformed in ANZ." Management of communications for the region is now understood to be consolidating under Oracle’s regional headquarters in Singapore.
Her exit arrives as Oracle undergoes what Bloomberg described as its "largest-ever restructuring." The company is reducing headcount to offset the enormous costs of accelerating its AI agenda, with reports indicating marketing is one of the divisions facing cuts.
This news sends a direct message to HR leaders in Australia and New Zealand: it shows that even senior corporate positions are on the table for restructuring as global firms pivot toward new technology. This is part of a much larger pattern hitting the Australian market, where numerous major brands and agencies have announced cuts this year, often pointing to technological adoption and AI as the main reasons. The message is clear: every part of the business has to figure out how to be strategically relevant in the age of AI.
