Minbos appoints Rob Newbold as CEO to advance cabinda phosphate project

The appointment comes as the company progresses the development of its flagship Cabinda Phosphate Project in Angola.
Minbos Resources has appointed Rob Newbold as its full-time Chief Executive Officer, formalising his leadership role after serving as Acting CEO since February 2026, as reported by Tip Ranks.
The appointment comes as the company progresses the development of its flagship Cabinda Phosphate Project in Angola, with a focus on funding, construction and operational readiness ahead of production.
Industry expertise
The Minbos board said Newbold brings more than 20 years of experience across the industrial, chemical and agribusiness sectors, making him well positioned to lead the next phase of the project.
His career includes senior positions at Wengfu Australia, Nufarm and Incitec Pivot, where he gained extensive experience in fertiliser production, agribusiness operations and project delivery.
The company believes his industry knowledge and operational expertise will be instrumental as it advances financing activities and prepares the Cabinda project for commercial operations.
Strategic location
Based in Spain, Newbold will maintain close engagement with stakeholders across Angola, Europe and other key markets as Minbos moves forward with project execution.
His location is expected to support coordination with investors, partners and government stakeholders while strengthening oversight of the project's development milestones.
Focus on delivery
Commenting on his appointment, Newbold said his immediate priorities would centre on disciplined project execution and stakeholder engagement.
"My immediate priorities include disciplined project delivery, strengthening stakeholder alignment and ensuring the project supports Angola’s agricultural productivity, food security and broader industrial and economic development through local employment, infrastructure and skills growth,” said Newbold.
Growth ambitions
The Cabinda Phosphate Project is a key component of Minbos’ long-term growth strategy and is expected to contribute to Angola’s agricultural sector by increasing access to fertiliser products and supporting domestic food production.
As the project advances towards construction and production readiness, the company is focused on securing funding, delivering critical infrastructure and creating local employment opportunities that can drive broader economic development in the region.
