He brings 20 years of HR leadership experience, spanning global policy development, project management and business-aligned people strategy.
Massimo Dutti, the premium fashion brand owned by Inditex, has appointed Carlos del Río as its new global director of human resources, bringing leadership experience across retail, technology and media to the role.
According to a report by FashionNetwork, del Río announced his move through LinkedIn, where he said he was approaching the new chapter “with great enthusiasm, a desire to contribute, and, above all, to keep on learning.”
He joins the fashion retailer from All We Wear Group (AWWG), where he served as human resources director from 2021.
Cross-sector HR leadership experience
Del Río holds a degree in psychology from the University of Deusto and a master’s in people management and organisational development from ESIC Business & Marketing School.
His career spans several industries, with previous roles at Decathlon, Microsoft, Paramount Pictures and Clarel.
At AWWG, the Madrid-based fashion group that owns Pepe Jeans, Hackett and Façonnable, he led human resources initiatives before moving to Massimo Dutti.
His professional background includes around 20 years in HR leadership roles, with experience in developing and implementing global policies and processes, managing projects and aligning people strategy with business objectives.
Massimo Dutti expands its global fashion business
Del Río's appointment places him at the helm of HR for a global fashion business operating across diverse markets, with responsibility for supporting its people strategy and organisational development as the brand continues to grow.
The group reported turnover of €19.755 billion for the six months from 1 February to 31 July 2026, up 7.6% compared with the same period a year earlier.
Farewell to AWWG
Announcing his departure, del Río also acknowledged his colleagues at AWWG, highlighting the contributions of the human resources, environmental, social and governance (ESG), and communications teams.
He thanked them for their “commitment, generosity, and everything we built during my time at the company.”
His appointment comes as fashion retailers continue to navigate changing consumer expectations, international expansion and evolving workforce requirements, placing people strategy and organisational development among the priorities for global brands.
