Freedom Australia appoints Sarah Chemouni as General Manager – People & Culture

Chemouni holds over 17 years of HR, people and culture leadership experience across AU & NZ markets.

Freedom Australia has appointed Sarah Chemouni as General Manager – People & Culture, marking a key step in strengthening its people leadership.

“I’m happy to share that I’m starting a new position as General Manager - People & Culture at Freedom Australia!” Chemouni shared in a LinkedIn post announcing the move.


Chemouni most recently served as Acting GM People & Culture and Head of People & Culture at the retailer. In these roles, she led end-to-end people strategies across Australia and New Zealand, supporting more than 38 retail stores and five distribution centres while advancing leadership, talent, and culture initiatives.


Prior to joining Freedom, she built broad HR leadership experience at the The Arnott's Group across ANZ and APAC markets, and at the Woolworths Group, where she developed strong capabilities in talent acquisition and people strategy.


Chemouni's appointment reflects her sustained contribution to organisational growth, culture transformation, and people excellence.


On the academic front, Chemouni holds a bachelor’s degree in HR and Industrial Relations from the University of Western Sydney and a Diploma in Human Resource Management from TAFE NSW, along with certifications in employee wellbeing, people and culture, and leadership management.
