Thanks to new technology, the emergence of 100% digital jobs has made it possible for thousands of people to work without setting foot in an office. But just how viable is it?

What used to be a dream for many is now a reality for thousands of professionals who have made their favourite tourist destinations their very own office. They are called digital nomads, and entire economies are now relying on them to rejuvenate local businesses after the pandemic.

Digital nomads are a growing group of professionals who work remotely and have the freedom to work from anywhere with an internet connection. Thanks to new technology, the emergence of 100% digital jobs has made it possible for thousands of people to work without setting foot in an office.

The pandemic accelerated the spread of a modality that was already beginning to take shape even before COVID-19 hit, but in smaller numbers.

The trend has become so widespread that about 40 countries have now created specific visas for "digital nomads" or international telematic workers. It is granted to professionals who want to work anywhere in that country remotely.

Are digital nomads the right model for employees of the future? 

Digital nomads are defined by their ability to do 100% remote work, granting them complete freedom over their location and schedule. Whether they're working from the Himalayas (if there is a reliable internet connection available), Cuzco, or the comfort of their living room, digital nomads can work from anywhere as long as they fulfill their project requirements.

This freedom of movement has allowed many digital nomads to combine their work on projects for various companies with their passion for travel. Some of them even share their experiences through different platforms, but it's important to note that not all digital nomads are bloggers.

Many businesses have adapted their models to accommodate digital nomads, and the key to success lies in establishing clear objectives and timelines that allow digital nomads to work with freedom while still meeting project goals.

Performance-based work has proven to be particularly effective in motivating digital nomads and maintaining a healthy work-life balance.

Being a digital nomad requires a unique attitude towards work. While it's becoming increasingly popular, it requires giving up the security of a traditional office job with a consistent monthly paycheck.

Above all, it's essential to have clear priorities, remain disciplined, and stay organised. While some may view working while travelling or travelling while working as a "vacation", digital nomads must take their jobs seriously to maintain their dream lifestyle.
