Philip Perham steps down from GENERAL Australia after nearly 27 years

GENERAL Australia has announced the departure of Philip Perham from his role as Managing Director for Australia and New Zealand, bringing to a close a nearly 27-year tenure with the business, according to the Linkedin post by General Australia.

The company confirmed that Sachio Inami, Head of Oceania, will become the senior point of contact for Australia and New Zealand as the organisation enters a new phase following its ownership transition.

Long-standing contribution

Perham has been a key figure in the growth and development of GENERAL Australia, formerly known as Fujitsu General Australia.

During his time with the company, he oversaw sustained business growth, strengthened partner relationships across the region, and played a pivotal role in establishing and expanding the brand's presence in the Australian market.

His leadership helped build strong connections with customers, employees and business partners, contributing to the company's long-term success.

Industry recognition

Inami paid tribute to Perham's contribution, highlighting the impact of his leadership on the organisation.

“He has built strong relationships with our partners, customers, and employees, and has played an important role in positioning the company for future success,” he says.

Inami added that Perham's leadership, commitment and industry expertise had helped shape the business over many years.

New ownership era

The leadership change comes as GENERAL Australia continues its evolution following the acquisition of Fujitsu General Limited by Paloma Rheem Holdings Co. in August 2025.

The company said the transition marks the beginning of a new chapter while maintaining its focus on customers, partners and market growth across Australia and New Zealand.

GENERAL New Zealand also confirmed the leadership transition, thanking Perham for his long-standing service and welcoming Inami as the senior point of contact for the country.

Growth and innovation

Despite the leadership change, the company said its commitment to delivering reliable air conditioning solutions and strong local support remains unchanged.

“We will continue to focus on innovation, energy-efficient air conditioning solutions, customer care, and supporting our nationwide network of partners,” says Inami.

GENERAL Australia said it will continue investing in future growth opportunities, innovation and customer-focused solutions as it moves forward under its new leadership structure.
