McKinsey elevates HR and transformation leader Anna Mattsson to Senior Partner

McKinsey & Company has elected Anna Mattsson as Senior Partner, expanding the firm's leadership with an executive whose career spans corporate strategy, large-scale transformation, mergers and acquisitions, talent development and organisational change.

In her role as Senior Partner, Mattsson serves as Global Co-Leader of Separations & Spin-offs while also leading McKinsey's Strategy & Corporate Finance Practice in Switzerland. She advises organisations on corporate strategy, complex business transformations, mergers and acquisitions, and value creation initiatives.

The appointment also brings into sharper focus her long-standing work in leadership development and people strategy, both within consulting and across the broader business community.

Leadership extends beyond corporate transformation

Alongside her responsibilities at McKinsey, Mattsson serves as President of Advance – Gender Equality in Business, an organisation dedicated to advancing gender equality and inclusive leadership across Switzerland's business community.

Her role reflects a leadership portfolio that combines business transformation with talent development and workplace inclusion.

While much of her consulting career has centred on strategy and corporate finance, people leadership has remained a consistent theme across her professional journey.

More than 14 years shaping talent and transformation

Before joining McKinsey, Mattsson built a career spanning more than 14 years at Deloitte Switzerland, where she held several senior leadership positions across financial advisory, mergers and acquisitions, and talent management. Her leadership responsibilities included:

During her time at the firm, she advised multinational organisations on integration and separation programmes, M&A strategy, leadership development and talent initiatives supporting complex transformation programmes.

The combination of corporate finance expertise and talent leadership has become increasingly relevant as organisations seek to align business transformation with workforce strategy.

Experience across consulting, investment and industry

Prior to joining McKinsey, Mattsson briefly served as Operating Advisory Partner at Gyrus Capital, where she advised portfolio companies on operational transformation and value creation.

Earlier in her career, she held marketing and business development roles at Sony, gaining international experience across product marketing, business development and marketing communications.

She also worked at CNC Communications & Network Consulting AG in communications consulting.

Leadership journey began early

Mattsson's interest in leadership development predates her consulting career.

She previously served as Vice President of AIESEC in Singapore and later as President of AIESEC Sweden, experiences that helped shape her approach to international collaboration, leadership development and organisational growth.

Today, her responsibilities span corporate transformation, strategy, finance and talent, reflecting how leadership roles are becoming increasingly multidisciplinary.

People leadership remains central to business transformation

Although McKinsey's announcement centres on Mattsson's election as Senior Partner, her career illustrates how transformation increasingly extends beyond financial performance.

Large-scale separations, mergers and acquisitions require organisations to manage culture, leadership capability and workforce integration alongside operational and financial objectives.

Her experience across talent strategy, leadership development and organisational effectiveness places people considerations alongside broader corporate transformation priorities.
