Amazon is bringing back its Career Choice programme in Australia, giving employees access to training and qualifications in some of the country's fastest-growing industries, including technology, telecommunications, health and safety, and transport.
The announcement was made during Amazon's Delivering the Future event in London.
Career Choice was created to help eligible employees gain new skills and qualifications, regardless of whether they choose to continue their careers at Amazon or pursue opportunities elsewhere, as revealed by tech guide.
The programme is designed to remove barriers to education by prepaying tuition fees and reimbursing eligible costs, making training opportunities more accessible to workers.
Tuition support
Under the programme, Amazon will prepay up to 100% of tuition fees and associated costs for nationally recognised courses, covering up to $8,000 per year, every year.
Career Choice forms part of Amazon's Future Ready 2030 initiative, a global $2.5 billion commitment aimed at helping at least 50 million people prepare for the future of work before the end of the decade.
Of that funding, $1 billion has been allocated to Career Choice programmes across Australia, Canada, Costa Rica, the Czech Republic, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Poland, Slovakia, South Africa, Spain, the United Kingdom and the United States.
Growing industries
In Australia, the programme focuses on sectors experiencing strong demand for skilled workers. All qualifications are externally recognised and designed to create genuine pathways into employment.
Eligible full-time, flex-time, part-time and reduced-time employees can access the programme after completing one year of continuous employment with Amazon.
Coursework is completed outside regular working hours, allowing employees to study at a pace that suits their personal commitments.
