Rapid Circle has appointed Gavin Lewis as chief technology officer, promoting the long-serving technology executive into the role as the firm continues to strengthen its technology leadership.
Based in Melbourne, Lewis has been with Rapid Circle for seven years, having joined the business in 2019 as an Azure principal cloud solutions architect. He has since held several positions across the organisation, including head of Azure capability and solutions specialist.
Before joining Rapid Circle, Lewis spent around 15 years at Effective Digital, where he most recently served as head of cloud. He holds a computer science degree from Swinburne University of Technology.
In his new role, Lewis brings experience spanning technology delivery, solution design and customer engagements, alongside his expertise in Azure and cloud solutions.
“Over the past seven years, Gavin has played a key role in Rapid Circle’s growth in Australia and globally,” the firm stated on LinkedIn.
“Having worked across delivery, solution design, and customer engagements, he brings a deep understanding of both the technology and the practical realities of helping organisations achieve meaningful business outcomes.”
Leadership team continues to evolve
Lewis's appointment comes amid broader changes to Rapid Circle's C-suite. Paul Tucker joined as commercial chief earlier this year, while co-founder Daniel McPherson has taken on interim managing director responsibilities following George Stavrakakis' move to the Netherlands to become group CEO.
Steve Godbold, who is based in Melbourne, is already serving as CEO. He joined Rapid Circle after three years as CEO of cloud and security boutique Tickbox and brings around 25 years of IT experience.
Godbold previously held leadership roles at Telstra Purple, including head of IoT and head of growth, following Telstra's acquisition of Readify, where he was chief digital officer.
His experience across cloud, software engineering and technology delivery adds to the firm's broader leadership capabilities.
“Steve brings a strong track record of building and leading technology delivery organisations across cloud, software engineering, and platform disciplines,” the firm stated.
“He has worked across complex and highly-regulated environments, including financial services, government and energy, helping organisations scale through secure, productive technology and stronger operating models.”
Lewis's elevation to CTO marks another step in Rapid Circle's ongoing leadership evolution, while bringing its cloud and technology expertise further into the firm's senior executive structure.
