Karen Beard has been appointed Chief People and Productivity Officer at Credit Union SA, taking on the role after a decade with the organisation across people leadership, transformation, member experience, distribution and retail banking.
From transformation to people leadership
Beard most recently served as Chief Transformation Officer at Credit Union SA, where she led strategic initiatives aligned with the organisation’s purpose of helping South Australians thrive.
Her remit included People and Development, business transformation, lending platform delivery, brand and marketing. She has also held senior positions including Chief Member Experience Officer, Chief Distribution Officer and Senior Manager Retail Banking.
Experience across financial services
Before joining Credit Union SA, Beard spent nearly six years with People’s Choice Credit Union, holding roles including Digital Sales Manager, Regional Manager, Melbourne & ACT, and Regional Manager, Central.
In these positions, she led branch networks across Adelaide, Melbourne and Canberra, with responsibility for operational performance, team development and regional management.
Earlier, Beard spent more than six years with Australian Central as National Contact Centre Manager, building experience across customer service, operational leadership and financial services management.

In her new role, Beard brings extensive institutional knowledge of Credit Union SA alongside experience spanning people, transformation, operations and customer experience.
Her appointment comes as the organisation continues to focus on productivity, workforce capability and member outcomes, bringing together her experience in people leadership and broader business transformation.
