Cognizant has named Carla Ramchand as managing director for Australia and New Zealand, bringing the former Avanade CEO on board to steer regional expansion.
Ramchand steps into the role following the departure of Rob Marchiori, who exited earlier this year to join Westpac in a digital and AI-focused position. She will report to Ganesh Ayyar, president for Asia Pacific and Japan.
Her appointment signals Cognizant’s sharper focus on scaling its AI Builder strategy across the region, as organisations look to convert AI investments into tangible business outcomes rather than isolated pilots.
Ramchand will oversee a workforce of more than 1,500 technology professionals across Australia and New Zealand, tasked with driving client adoption of AI and accelerating digital transformation initiatives.
“Carla’s outstanding track record of leading teams through growth, her passion for delivering client outcomes and her global experience make her the right leader for our vibrant Australia and New Zealand business,” said Ganesh Ayyar, President, Cognizant.
Ramchand said she was joining at a pivotal moment for enterprises navigating rapid technological change and looking to unlock measurable value from innovation, adding she is keen to work closely with clients and partners to deliver transformation at pace.
