Top 10 hottest jobs in Australia 2023

Digital jobs are on the rise. The list of the 10 most in-demand professionals for 2023 in Australia, drawn up by the recruitment agency Robert Half, confirms the trend: the market has turned to digital services, forcing companies to reskill their staff, hire technology workers and improve the online customer experience.

Robert Half selected the top 10 roles based on market trends, client conversations, and placements made in 2022. Tech professions emerged on top, followed by HR business partners, customer service managers, receptionists, risk managers and digital marketing managers.

According to the study, IT profiles will be needed mainly for financial, administrative and technological roles.

DevOps engineers, who collaborate with software developers, system operators and other IT staff working across different parts of a business to manage code releases, will be the "star profile" by 2023. A DevOps engineer is highly valued for introducing processes, tools and methodologies to balance different requirements during the software development lifecycle (coding, deployment, maintenance and upgrades).

Competition among IT professionals is very active. Globally, the trend is the same as in Australia: companies compete with each other for a very limited number of candidates. Most of them have several current offers or are already employed, so companies are developing rapid recruitment strategies due to the high demand.

LinkedIn presented the listings of the most in-demand positions within the global job market. The trend is similar to that of the Australian market. Technological profiles are at the top, especially those linked to customer service processes. The roles of Cloud Engineer, DevOps, Back-End Developer are the most quoted.

Meanwhile, the demand for customer service managers and digital marketing managers is also driven by the trend towards digitalisation. Receptionists, on the other hand, are back in high demand among companies that laid off these workers early in the pandemic.
