Snapchat's parent company appoints Google’s Ryan Ferguson to spearhead ANZ operations
Snap Inc., the parent company of Snapchat, has announced the appointment of Ryan Ferguson as its new Managing Director for Australia and New Zealand (ANZ). This leadership transition comes as the company continues to strengthen its presence in the region, which boasts a community of 9.5 million active Snapchat users.
Ferguson steps into the role after joining Snap earlier this year as Head of Sales. His appointment marks a significant milestone in his career, following a remarkable 16-year tenure at Google, where he held several senior leadership positions. His extensive experience in the tech industry and expertise in driving business growth make him a strategic choice for leading Snap’s operations in the ANZ market.
Ajit Mohan, President of Snap Inc.’s Asia-Pacific (APAC) region, expressed confidence in Ferguson’s leadership abilities. “With Ryan’s relentless pursuit of delivering value for our clients and partners, as well as his demonstrated natural leadership, I am thrilled to have Ryan as Snap ANZ’s Managing Director,” said Mohan. He further added, “With Ryan’s proven track record and customer-obsessed mindset, I have great confidence that he will drive business growth, deliver outstanding results for our partners, and continue to grow and serve our community of Snapchatters across the ANZ region.”
Ferguson succeeds Tony Keusgen, who has stepped down from the role. While details about Keusgen’s next steps remain undisclosed, Snap has wished him well in his future endeavors.
Commenting on his appointment, Ferguson shared his excitement about the opportunity to lead Snap in a dynamic and growing market. “I couldn’t be more thrilled to be leading Snap in Australia and New Zealand. Since joining the company earlier this year, the growth potential for Snap in this region has been evident,” he said. “I’m excited to be working with a refreshed team of talented, passionate people across the Tasman to realize this enormous opportunity. As we head into 2025, I’m focused on continuing to drive full-funnel results for our partners in Australia and New Zealand.”
The announcement underscores Snap Inc.’s commitment to bolstering its regional presence and delivering innovative solutions for businesses and consumers alike. With Ferguson at the helm, the company aims to deepen its engagement with local communities and partners while advancing its mission to empower people to express themselves and connect with others through its platform.
As Snap prepares for the opportunities and challenges of the coming year, Ferguson’s leadership is expected to play a pivotal role in driving the company’s strategic objectives. His vision for a customer-focused, results-driven approach aligns with Snap’s overarching goals for sustained growth in the ANZ region.
Snapchat’s popularity in Australia and New Zealand remains strong, with millions of users leveraging the platform’s unique features to communicate and engage. Under Ferguson’s guidance, Snap Inc. is poised to build on this foundation, ensuring that it continues to innovate and deliver value to its users and partners in the region.
