Fidelity International names Simon Glazier as Australia MD

Fidelity International has announced the appointment of Simon Glazier as Managing Director for Australia, effective 1 September 2024. In this new role, Glazier will be responsible for driving the continued growth of Fidelity’s business in Australia and enhancing the firm’s offerings to Australian investors.

Glazier brings over 20 years of experience in the Australian asset management and financial services sector. Since joining Fidelity in 2020, he has led the company’s Wholesale segment in Australia, where he was instrumental in developing new products and solutions to meet the evolving needs of investors. His efforts also included expanding support for Fidelity’s advice and wealth management clients.

Before his tenure at Fidelity, Glazier served as Head of Intermediary Sales & Marketing at Ellerston Capital for five years. His career also includes senior roles at Colonial First State, Perpetual Investments, and ING Australia, providing him with a broad range of experience that will be invaluable in his new position.

Glazier will report to Rajeev Mittal, Managing Director for Asia Pacific (Ex-Japan) at Fidelity International. Mittal expressed his confidence in Glazier’s ability to lead the Australian business through its next phase of growth. "I am delighted to appoint Simon to lead our Australian business into the next phase of its growth. Fidelity International has been supporting clients and investors in Australia for more than 25 years, and it remains an important market for us. Under Simon’s leadership, we will continue to bring the best of Fidelity’s global research, capabilities, and solutions to our clients in Australia," Mittal said.

Glazier’s appointment comes as his predecessor, Lawrence Hanson, prepares to leave Fidelity in September 2024 to pursue an external opportunity.

Fidelity International has been a significant player in the Australian market for over 25 years, and Glazier’s leadership is expected to further strengthen the firm’s position and commitment to Australian investors.
