EY appoints seven new leaders to lead Australian operations & strategic initiatives

Ernst & Young (EY) announced significant changes to its Australian leadership team, with seven senior executives stepping into new roles. With almost seven decades of collective experience within the company, these appointments mark a strategic move to bolster EY's leadership and drive growth across various regions and functions. 

Clare Sporle, Linzi Carr, Louise MacDonald, Jenelle McMaster, Selina Short, Megan Wilson, and Ryan Fisk have all been appointed to key leadership positions, each bringing a wealth of experience and a deep understanding of EY's operations and values.

Clare Sporle takes over as NSW managing partner

Clare Sporle, an assurance partner with a focus on banking and funds management clients, has been appointed as the NSW managing partner. Sporle has been with EY for nearly three decades, starting her career in London before transferring to Sydney in 2000. Known for her leadership in diversity and inclusion within the firm, Sporle succeeds Andrew Price, who served as NSW managing partner for the past seven years.

"Clare's extensive experience and commitment to fostering an inclusive culture make her the ideal candidate to lead our NSW operations," said a spokesperson from EY. "Her expertise in assurance and her dedication to diversity and inclusion will undoubtedly strengthen our team and drive our mission forward."

Linzi Carr assumes top role in South Australia

Linzi Carr, EY's new South Australia managing partner, has been with the firm for more than 25 years. Originally joining EY in the UK, Carr migrated to Adelaide in 2006. She is an audit partner specializing in heavy industries clients and serves as the global firm’s long-term IFRS leader for the oil and gas sector. Additionally, Carr currently leads the SA & NT space and innovation sector.

"Linzi's deep understanding of the heavy industries and her leadership in innovation make her an invaluable asset to our South Australian operations," noted EY's leadership team. "We are confident that her vision and expertise will drive significant growth and development in the region."

Louise MacDonald becomes Canberra office managing partner

Louise MacDonald, a member of EY’s health & human services consulting practice, has been appointed as the managing partner for EY's Canberra office. MacDonald joined EY in 2010 after completing her MBA at the Melbourne Business School and was admitted to the partnership in 2020. She succeeds Todd Willis and also serves as the lead client partner for the Department of Social Services.

"Louise has demonstrated exceptional leadership and expertise in health and human services," said an EY representative. "Her strategic vision and client-focused approach will be critical in driving our Canberra operations forward."

Ryan Fisk steps up as Head of Assurance

Replacing company veteran Glenn Carmody, who served six years in the role, Ryan Fisk has been appointed as the national managing partner for assurance. Fisk has led the NSW practice since 2018 and previously served as the Oceania assurance leader for the energy sector. Under his leadership, EY has consistently ranked highly in audit quality.

"Ryan's leadership and experience in assurance are unparalleled," commented EY's leadership team. "His commitment to maintaining high standards and driving excellence will ensure our continued success in this critical function."

Jenelle McMaster heads up People & Culture

Jenelle McMaster, who has served as EY's regional deputy CEO since 2021, will now lead the firm’s people & culture function, succeeding Kate Hillman. McMaster has been a director of the Champions of Change coalition and previously led EY’s people advisory services performance improvement practice for the Asia Pacific.

"Jenelle's passion for people and her extensive experience in advisory services make her the perfect fit for this role," said an EY executive. "Her leadership will be instrumental in fostering a culture of excellence and inclusivity."

Selina Short takes over Markets Leadership

Selina Short, previously the Sydney-based built environment & resources national managing partner and a fellow executive team member, will take over Jenelle McMaster's former markets leadership duties. Short's leadership in real estate and US capital markets has been widely recognized, and she currently co-leads EY’s Sustainability Disclosure Hub.

"Selina's expertise in markets and her strategic vision will drive our growth and market presence," noted an EY spokesperson. "Her leadership will be crucial as we navigate the evolving market landscape."

Megan Wilson steps up as Built Environment & Resources National Managing Partner

Senior partner Megan Wilson will now assume the role of national managing partner for the built environment & resources sector. Wilson's previous positions include Oceania real estate leader and US capital market leader. She also co-leads EY’s Sustainability Disclosure Hub, highlighting her commitment to sustainability and innovation.

"Megan's deep industry knowledge and leadership in sustainability make her an excellent choice for this role," said an EY representative. "Her strategic insights and commitment to innovation will drive significant advancements in our operations."
