Aggreko appoints Leigh Hillier as Head of People - AusPac
Aggreko, a global leader in utilities solutions, has appointed Leigh Hillier as the Head of People for the Australia and Pacific regions, effective immediately.
Leigh shared the news on LinkedIn, writing: “I’m happy to share that I’m starting a new position as Head of People - AusPac at Aggreko!”
With over 25 years of HR leadership experience across some of Australia’s top organizations, Leigh Hillier brings a wealth of expertise to his new role. Most recently, he served as Project Lead - HR Evolve and Head of People Operations at BAE Systems Australia, where he led global HR transformation initiatives. His work encompassed redefining the operating model, policies, processes, job architecture, talent management, and HR technology. This was Leigh’s second tenure with BAE Systems, having previously spent over eight years with the company in key roles such as Acting Head of HR and Employee Relations, Head of HR, and HR Manager across various verticals. Beyond BAE Systems, his career includes key roles as Manager of Employee Relations at Monash College, HR Manager at Q-COMP, and HR Advisor at WorkCover Queensland, showcasing his extensive and versatile HR expertise.
Leigh’s academic credentials include an Executive MBA from UNSW Business School (AGSM), a Graduate Diploma in HR from Deakin University, and a Bachelor of Business and HR Management from Queensland University of Technology. Additionally, he is a certified Organizational Coach accredited by the Institute of Executive Coaching and Leadership. His certifications include Change Management from Prosci, Mediation from the Australian Commercial Disputes Centre, HR from the Australian Human Resource Professional, and Stress Management from LinkedIn.

In his new position, Leigh will work closely with senior leaders to shape and execute a people strategy that aligns with business objectives and enhances commercial performance. His expertise in workforce planning, performance management, employee engagement, culture transformation, HR transformation, and strategic HR will play a critical role in driving the Australia-Pacific business strategy. He is expected to provide valuable insights, challenges, and consulting support on key talent and people priorities.
Leigh also shared a heartfelt message on LinkedIn as he announced his departure from BAE Systems: "I bid farewell to BAE Systems after two stints spanning close to 16 years... In August 2007, I first joined Tenix-Toll, which was later acquired by BAE Systems. It has been a fantastic career with numerous opportunities, successes, and challenges along the way. I’m immensely proud of the work our people perform in protecting those who protect us. Thank you to all my colleagues, past and present, who are some of the best and brightest people around. You have helped shape me into the HR leader I am today."
