TrueLayer names Rob Hale Head of Banking Australia

Open banking platform TrueLayer has chosen Rob Hale as the new Head of Banking in Australia. He will be working alongside TrueLayer’s CEO of Australia & New Zealand, Brenton Charnley.

Most recently, Rob was working at Regional Australia Bank (RAB) as Chief Digital Officer. In his stint at RAB, he aided the bank to become the first Australian bank to achieve the status of both Data Holder and unrestricted Accredited Data Recipient under the CDR [consumer data right, which was implemented in 2017 to give consumers better access and control of their data].

Owing to his experience with CDR, Rob is particularly excited to be joining TrueLayer.

"We look to the next horizon of the CDR – action initiation and payments. TrueLayer is bringing its global open banking expertise into Australia to help international and local clients access CDR data in the right way," said Rob.

In his new role, Rob will work with banks, fintech firms, and other institutions that use open data to improve and add to their services for Australian consumers and businesses.

Brenton is excited to onboard Rob and said, "He is a leading advocate for the CDR and the critical role it is playing in transforming Australian financial services. His knowledge of what it takes for banks to deliver open banking will be invaluable."
