PepsiCo's ANZ CEO will be moving into Victoria's favourite brewery
Asahi Beverages announced earlier this week that Danny Celoni will be the next CEO of Carlton & United Breweries (CUB), the brewery behind Victoria Bitter, Carlton Draught, and other best-selling beers. He will officially assume the role in early February 2022, taking over from Peter Filipovic, who announced in July that he would be stepping down. Filipovic will remain until Celoni has been onboarded.
Celoni has over 25 years' experience in beverages, much of that focused on alcohol: he spent 17 years with Diageo, taking roles around the Southeast Asia region from Singapore to Korea to Thailand, and working his way up to the position of Commercial Director Australia, New Zealand & South Pacific. He subsequently moved to become Chief Operating Officer of PepsiCo ANZ and South Pacific before taking his present role as CEO.
On moving to CUB, Celoni will also join the Asahi Beverages Oceania Executive Leadership Team, reporting to Robert Iervasi, Group CEO of Asahi Beverages Oceania.
According to Iervasi, CUB's experience working with Celoni as CEO of PepsiCo - one of the brewery's strategic partners - factored into the decision to bring him on board. "We’ve observed first-hand his ability to understand and deliver great results for his customers, and build exceptional teams”, Iervasi said.
"With Danny’s forward-thinking approach to business, he’s going to make a very significant contribution to building our teams, delivering on our strategies for growth, and forging great relationships with our customers and partners."
