New Solar Energy Ltd appoints Liam Thomas as CEO

Sustainable business investment company, New Solar Energy Limited announced last Friday that it has appointed Liam Thomas as its Chief Executive Officer, with effect from 1st October 2021.

Currently, he is the Chief Investment Officer of New Energy Solar Limited where he oversaw the acquisition and construction of NEW’s portfolio of utility-scale solar assets. He has held prestigious positions at Origin Energy, Aurizon, and Orica. Renewable energy, infrastructure, and agribusiness sectors are his forte where he has a noteworthy experience of over 17 years. At Orica, he took the commercial lead for the mining services contract portfolio across the North and Central West and managed the development and execution of major Pilbara iron ore business growth projects. Thomas replaced John Martin, who has quit the company. He holds an MBA degree from the University of Melbourne.

Jeff Whalan, Chairman of New Energy Solar Limited said that Thomas has great experience in this domain and a deep understanding of the portfolio which will be hugely beneficial for the company.

Liam Thomas said: “I am excited to be assuming the role of CEO of New Energy Solar. I look forward to working closely with Jeff, John, and the rest of the Board to execute on the strategic priorities we have identified to realise the value of our high-quality portfolio.”
