Matthias Schacke named UBS country head for India

Matthias Schacke has been named UBS country head for India, effective 1 June.

Schacke will continue in his current role as head of talent & recruiting in HR and will move from Zurich to Mumbai in August.

In his new role, he would be reporting to Edmund Koh, Asia Pacific president and Stefan Seiler, group head human resources (HR).

Schacke has worked in a range of senior leadership roles across HR since joining UBS in 2000 and built a strong connection to India supporting the build-up of the strategic delivery centers.

“Our business in India has grown rapidly over the past five years. Matthias is the right person to take us to the next level. He is passionate about people strategies and helping others to thrive and will bring this deep knowledge to his new role in India,” said Koh.

Also, Kishore KV will become head of CDIO (chief digital and information officer) of APAC effective June 1. Kishore will take on this role in addition to his current responsibilities in CDIO GWM and as location head of CDIO Singapore.

Kishore joined UBS in 2007 and has held a number of technology leadership roles in the APAC region.

After 25 years at UBS, Uday Odedra, who led CDIO APAC for the last five years, has decided to explore new opportunities outside of the firm.

Odedra contributed to the firm’s growth and success in India first as the head of technology for India, and then as country head for India since January 2021.
