Along with the transformation in the definition of mental health, leadership definition has transformed too. Several surveys and studies have found that employees seek empathetic leaders today. In this episode of People Matters Podcast, we chatted with Rajesh Rai, the vice president - people team and head of human resources, India, GlobalLogic to explore the new aspects of hybrid leadership.
During the interaction, he said that with the changes and disruption around the world, leaders need to “deal with the complexity and the disruption and the ambiguity as well as the change.”
He noted that wellness has also gained the center stage. In fact, wellness encompasses not just physical or mental wellness but also the social one. According to him, leaders must make sure that their employees are doing well in every sphere of their lives.
Rajesh said, “For me compassion or empathy is not just about observing whether somebody needs help. To me it means to actually go and help them even through a small little action or helping them in sorting the issues that they might be facing.” Leading a hybrid workforce means mentoring the employees and setting them on an auto-pilot mode. Assessment should cover the outcome instead of the how and from where people are operating.
