In 2008, the Government of India awarded him the Padma Vibhushan, the country’s second-highest civilian award, in recognition of his unparalleled contributions to industry and society. In a heartfelt statement on LinkedIn, the AIBC expressed its condolences to the Tata family, praising Tata’s lasting impact on both nations. “Ratan Tata was a visionary leader who understood the power of cross-border partnerships and the importance of ethical leadership. His legacy will continue to inspire generations.”

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi described Ratan Tata as “a visionary business leader, a compassionate soul, and an extraordinary human being,” reflecting the national sense of loss. “Extremely pained by his passing,” Modi added, acknowledging Tata’s monumental contributions to Indian industry and philanthropy.

The business community, too, was deeply affected by Tata’s passing. Prominent Indian business leaders expressed their sorrow, with Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw, Executive Chairperson of Biocon Limited, sharing a cherished memory with Tata. “Such a great man and a great mind. Blessed to have known him. Om Shanti,” she wrote.

Mukesh Ambani, Chairman of Reliance Industries, called Tata’s passing a personal loss, saying he was deeply inspired by Tata’s noble character and values. “Ratan Tata’s life serves as a testament to what it means to be an ethical leader in a world that often prizes profit over people,” Ambani said.

Gautam Adani, Chairman of the Adani Group, also paid his respects, calling Ratan Tata a “giant and visionary” who reshaped modern India. “Legends like him never fade away,” Adani remarked, adding, “Om Shanti.”
