Atlassian promotes Avani Prabhakar to Global Head of Talent

Sydney-headquartered collaboration software provider Atlassian has promoted Avani Prabhakar to Global Head of Talent and HR Business Partners, a role leading the company's 100-odd HR professionals across its operations worldwide.

Prabhakar, who has been with Atlassian since 2019, started with the company as Head of HR Partners for the Asia Pacific region, and subsequently took on the management of the M&A specialisation in July 2020 - the same time  frame when Atlassian acquired asset management company Mindville and startup Halp, and also reported massive growth on the pandemic digitalisation wave.

She is expected to "accelerate performance as the company scales", according to the official announcement - with "scales" being the operative word, in line with the strategy Atlassian has been pursuing over the last year. In their August letter to shareholders, Atlassian executives announced that they expect higher operating margins and "durable revenue growth", driven in part by "accelerated investment".

That said, the company has been going through a number of restructuring exercises, including reduction in hiring and a series of layoffs earlier this year.

Prior to joining Atlassian, Prabhakar was Head of HR Business Partnering at Fuji Xerox Australia, and before that she was HR Manager for the Asia Pacific, Middle East, and Central Asia regions at British Airways. She has a total of over 20 years' experience in the profession.
